Vancouver

Now that I know that my uncle knows about my blog and knows how (or will know how) to get to it, I should probably update it. :)

So first of all, oh my goodness. So much has happened, I hope I remember it all! The last time I posted, Tristan was getting his second tooth. Well, just this morning I found that he's getting his 5th! He has two on top and he's getting his third on the bottom. I'll try to get a pic in a bit, but right now I have no way of uploading it anyway. His sleep issue has improved. He at least sleeps through the night now. Most of the time. Sometimes he still stays up all night, but for the most part he's doing pretty good.

Last time I updated he had just started crawling and pulling up. Well the past few days, he's been walking fairly well. Sometimes it's still like a drunken sailor walk, but he's doing awesome. He walked across the room to me the other day. I'm super proud of him. Since we've been in Vancouver (my cousin's son just turned one!) he's been getting more social. In January, my cousin Michele came to visit us and she couldn't even get near him without him freaking out. Now she can hold him and her husband can hold him and he just loves everybody to pieces. And he's made some awesome baby friends that he loves to play with. He's also gotten more vocal. He yells a lot now. It's actually kind of cute. Unless you're trying to sleep. We've discovered he has a crazy love for dogs. Michele has two and he just watches them and giiiigles like crazy! He especially loves the big one 'cause he can chase him without mommy worrying too much.

I must away for now. It's naptime for my little Monkeyturd.

A Little Late

I started writing a post the day I posted the contest information. And then I stopped and I left it open for like, a week...but I never finished it. A lot of stuff has been happening so I hope I can remember it all!

First of all, Tristan's getting his SECOND tooth! He got his first one a week or so ago and now his second pearly white is breaking through! Needless to say, sleep has been a horrid issue. He doesn't want to sleep and he definitely isn't having this sleeping in his crib business. This morning, he didn't go to sleep until like, 4:30! I was not a happy camper. But neither was he, so everything was even.

I adjusted the straps after I got two good pictures... The ones with the correct placement he made funny faces in...
Another big thing that happened is... He got his "Big Boy" car seat! We finally upgraded to a convertible car seat since his infant carrier is way too small. We went to WIC and he was weighed and measured and he was about two pounds away from outgrowing his infant seat. He was 19 lbs 14 oz. And 28 inches long! We have a future basketball star on our hands! We ended up getting the AOE, or Alpha Omega Elite by Safety 1st. Apparently, it's one of the "most hated seats." Thanks for the unwanted advice, b*#%& on BabyCenter. She even had the nerve to ask if I was sure my child fit! UHM, HELLO! If he didn't fit, we wouldn't have it. He's a tall kid! The shoulder straps are in the right place, so mind your own damn business! Sorry... I just hate when people throw their opinions on everyone whenever they want. And it felt like she was questioning my parenting... Don't ask me retarded questions like, "are you sure he even fits," or "are you sure it's installed right?" Yes, dumbass. I'm sure. Along with a big boy car seat, he got a new cart cover... yes, he's big enough to ride in the shopping cart. He still gets lazy and goes flump. He also gets tired and lays his head down to try and sleep. But he does pretty good!

Moving on! Uhm... Let's see. OH YEAH, HE'S CRAWLING! (<-click for video!) He started on the 23rd. It was shocking. He's crawled off the bed a few times...but it was into laundry baskets full of clothes. He thought it was hilarious, but I was freaked out! He keeps trying to crawl through the wall too... All he manages to do is hit his poor little head. And he doesn't stop either, he'll just keep hitting it over and over. He's such a little turd! Before he even started crawling, he started pulling himself up. We had him in his crib one day and we turned our backs for one second and he'd pulled himself up and was looking at us, like, "hey guys. whatsa happenin?"

He's also mastering the art of "cruising." He can walk if you're holding his hands or if he's holding onto the side of something. Last night, we had him in his playard near Bryce's desk and he walked all the way around it to get to his snacks. It was pretty awesome... until he tried to pull everything down on his head. This child is going to give me a heart attack I swear. Speaking of food, he's also starting to feed himself. Mainly just snacks, but it's a start! We want to start BLW (baby led weaning), when he learns to feed himself instead of continuing with the purees. But we have WIC and they give us 32 jars of food a month, so he's still getting that. He's on to Stage 2 foods, they're just a little chunkier. He's also doing well with Stage 2 1/2 and he's had a few Stage 3. The Stage 3 come in six ounce jars and the others only 4 ounce jars. He's had some snacks that he can feed himself. Earth's Best makes these snacks called, Pop Snax. They have veggie flavor and sweet potato cinnamon. He's also had apple blueberry "wagon wheels," mixed berry yogurt bites and organic green veggie puffs. The last ones are spinach, collared greens and kale... HORRIBLE aftertaste, but he seems to love them. My favorite are the yogurt bites! lol

One more thing I want to mention is, he sent a smile to a sweet little girl named Avery. Avery has SMA. Here is a link to her blog... I hope you take the time to read at least a little bit of it. :)

Here are a few more pictures... Just for fun :)

He's a creeper!

Watch my little creep...here :)
He started growling about a week ago and now it seems like he's ALWAYS growling! He growls when I kiss him, when we do something he doesn't like (i.e. tickling him, "eating" his belly), and for his baba. He's just too cute <3

 oh and...

almost 7 months!

Okay, okay... I fail! But come on, this Mommy Business is hard work! The only reason I have time to post right now is that he fell asleep after I finished my Rockstar. I don't know what's going on with my crazy child... He's been sleeping oh so perfectly for the past month or so and tonight he just wouldn't go to sleep! We started trying to get him down at 10 and he literally just fell asleep. I posted on BabyCenter asking if it could be teething because he's also drooling up a storm and he has a constant snot river coming from his adorable little nose and someone else thinks that could be the culprit. I just hope he isn't up at 7, ready to play. But then part of me hopes he is. Mainly because I hate staying up all night these days. Bryce is working 7-11 this morning and then if Tristan's awake and happy and the sun is all shiny and warm, we're heading to the park! I'm excited. I think it's just what we all need. Some sun, some laughs...sounds like perfection.
Once again, we're one week away from a new month... the big 7 months. And the fact that he's growing so super fast is really depressing me. I had really bad PPD and I don't think that I'm ever going to be off my meds again. I need to get into the doctor soon because this whole crying every night thing is really getting old. I know it won't stop the depressing thoughts ("he's never going to fit into his newborn stuff again", "soon he'll be feeding himself", "he doesn't need me to rock him to sleep anymore & he doesn't like to cuddle with me anymore"), but I hope it will help with the hormones. I seriously hope I'm not the only FTM out there who cries over every little thing. I forgot what it was yesterday... He did something new and big boyish and I started crying. I started crying over the fact that in a few days, my baby could have itty bitty teeth and then he'll be moving on from baby food... I try to cherish every moment... but these thoughts just keep haunting me. My sweet little son will never be this small again. My heart aches...
ANYWAY! We got pictures done on the 18th or something? I think it was the 18th. The point is, we get them back today! I'm super excited! Because of our awesome membership, we were able to get enhanced photos and collages for half price. So we got our favorite picture with his name on it, we got a collage with four pictures, plus we got wallets and 5-7's that we didn't even need! :) I love discounts. So Uncle Mike & Aunt Sandi, if you're reading this, I hope you're prepared =P I'm definitely sending these out (plus all the ones I meant to send out and failed to). Linkage:here
Since Easter is Sunday, we've been putting his Easter basket together. The only problem is, with all the stuff, the basket we got is too small. So I'm having a difficult time fitting everything prettily. Including all of the stuff my mom bought him, he's gotten five movies (we're still buying more... we still have a few days ya know =P), four books, a box of flash cards to do with his daddy every night, two bath toys, a new teether (keys that make noise!) new jeans, a new shirt and new cute little sandals that are all skulled up :). He's a spoiled little turd and we're okay with that. I still want to get him a new towel (Costco has an adorable hooded towel that's a dragon!) and some swim trunks. And maybe some sunglasses. We found some awesome ones at Wal-Mart - They're Phineas & Ferb sunglasses and that just happens to be one of his favorite shows! And Saturday night we found out he loves Toy Story. Our child is freaking awesome.
He still isn't crawling, thankfully. I'm still trying to catch up on my rest from when he wasn't sleeping at night. He's a little lazy... we put him up on his hands and knees and he'll rock for a few seconds and then he'll push his legs out and just lay on his tummy.
He's been trying new food- he loves mangoes, mangoes-kiwi-apples, apples-cherries, pears-green beans, green beans, pumpkin-apple, apples-blueberries, strawberries-bananas... his favorite dinner is apples and chicken. Bryce gave him a piece of turkey a few weeks ago and he chew it like he'd been doing it all of his life. He loved it! He HATED the mashed potatoes I made him try a couple nights ago. He wasn't too thrilled about the avocado or the yogurt. He doesn't like jarred bananas. He didn't really like the jarred turkey either. He's been trying to get the hang of a sippy cup (he hold it sideways...sooo cute!), but I think he prefers drinking out of ours. He liked our ice water. He talks up a storm!
We went to see Bryce's parents and brother weekend before last and at first Tristan wasn't too sure about these "new" people. It'd been a few months since we'd had the chance to get over there. I think he was mainly just tired (we got in late) because the next day he had so much fun with his grandma and grandpa! He was confused by Bryce's brother... I'm sure he was thinking (and Bryce said it first!), "Why do you look like my daddy...with long hair?" While we were there, he would only sleep with us which was fine because I couldn't do much anyway. (That morning before we left I stupidly bent over funny to pick him up and I pulled a major muscle in my back. It STILL hurts, but not as bad. The pain shot around my left side and it still stings in the middle of my chest. And it still gets tingly at random moments. It sucks.) We had a lot of fun and we're going to try going over more often so that Tristan remembers them, even if he is tired. While we were there, he also got to play in his cousin's walker! He took a few steps backwards. And he had a bite of Jell-O. I know now not to give him Jell-O because his sister yelled at me in two different ways on Facebook because her daughter had a seizure after having it. But he was so cute when he was eating it :)
When we came home, Tristan was playing in his activity center thingy and he took a few steps around it! I was excited and sad all at the same time. We also discovered his obsession with Gizmo, Bryce's cat. He loves petting the kitty. And the kitty loves the attention. Gizmo will walk over to Tristan and headbutt him for pets. It's so cute. And when Tristan sees Gizmo he's just mesmerized and he'll start giggling like crazy!
Not sure what else to mention... this has been a lot and taken a lot of thinking to remember this much! So many new things happen on a daily basis it's hard to remember it all. I'll try to get better at updating... but no promises =P

One week away...

From six months old! I can't believe the time has pretty much flown out the window. It really does seem like I just went to the hospital yesterday...
So far, my big little Monkey is sitting up unassisted! I don't know how or when this happened, I kind of just leaned him up to play one morning and he sat up like a champ!
It's kind of blurry because I took it with my iPod and the lighting sucked, but you get the point.  He's also eating big boy food! So far he's had sweet potatoes, sweet peas, pears, sweet carrots and squash. I'm 99% sure the squash was his favorite. He got really excited after the first bite!
Since he's sitting up by himself so well, we decided to take the little seat out of his bathtub so he could have a big boy bath. It broke my heart a little... My baby boy will never use his newborn sling again... he'll never need this little seat. (I'm having a hard time with the fact he's growing up so fast...) But he seemed happy and that made me feel a little better.
It's so amazing that my little boy went from this:

to this:
We're guessing he'll be crawling soon. He's kind of scooting now. He's rolling from both tummy and back. He just needs to get up on those hand and knees! Then I'm positive all hell will break loose. He never sits still. Even if he's in one of our laps, his little hands and feet just move like crazy. He even moves all over the place in his sleep! I'm probably going to lose all my preggo weight and more when he's finally moving! lol
Oh and if he hadn't done it just now, I might have forgotten. He's already telling us no! We'll ask him a question and he'll shake his head. It's adorable! ...well...most of the time. It's not so adorable when I ask, "do you love your mommy?" and I get a head shake. Or, "are you ready for nightnight?" and I get a head shake. Then it's just rude lol
